Young Adult Resource People
1 Timothy 4:12 To submit a new request, or sign up for an upcoming event, please communicate directly with the YARP Coordinator, Heather Hansen.
This site was recently hacked. Although functionality was restored, regrettably all database content since Nov 2008 was lost. :( Fortunately we do have all event requests and evaluation submissions in email, so YARPS will continue to provide uninterrupted service to upcoming events. Unfortunately all service records have been lost. No attempt will be made to reconstruct historic information because this website will be replaced in the near future.
Sorry for the inconvenience, God bless!
Submit any resources that would be useful to YARPs. (Directions, Songs, etc . . .)
The youth are handed an index card to write down a situation where they are tempted, have been tempted etc. Ruth S. collects the cards.
Here, we improv situations in 2 ways: what Jace would do, and what Jesus would do. Suggestions for situations were:
*Friday night after a football game
*Sunday morning when you don’t want to go to church
*Suggestions from the audience
*Cheating/ peer pressure situation
What still needs to happen for this part of the workshop: we need to decide on how we’re going to act out the situations.
We are going to give the kids situations and ask them what they would do. The situations are taken from the cards the kids filled out when they came in. (I also found the camp ones and some from a bible study in case we need extras).
The kids will have to choose what they would do in each situation by going to a designated place. (Ruth is leading all of this). Then, we will prompt discussion with some questions.
What still needs to happen: we need to figure out how to engage the discussion.
Someone will explain why this workshop is being offered- to set the right example, to be reminded of grace, and that following Jesus is a heart mindset more than a bunch of rules.
Then, we will brainstorm barriers of why this is hard to take home. To fully communicate how important grace is and how imperfect we are, 4(?) yarps will share stories of either a good or bad choice they have made. In these stories, the elements of humanness, grace, forgiveness, and lessons learned need to be included.
What still needs to happen: we need to figure out how we’re going to present this, and who’s sharing stories.
